APR d 1981 BOOK 67 m S <br />Continuation of Consent Agenda Item N. - Veteran's Serv. Travel <br />Chairman Scurlock reiterated his question as to how an <br />increase in the Veteran's Service Travel Account would benefit <br />the county. <br />Veterans Service Officer Vince McCann noted that when he <br />made up his budget, he had no idea he would be asked to serve as <br />an Executive Committeeman on the Council of the State Association <br />of County Veteran Service Officers. The people he works with <br />felt it would be a benefit to the county for him to serve on this <br />and get a voice into the state on the Veteran's affairs. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Bird, SECONDED by Com- <br />missioner Eggert, the Board unanimously approved <br />the following budget amendment increasing.travel <br />in Veteran's Services: <br />ACCOUNT NUMBER ACCOUNT TITLE INCREASE DECREASE <br />001-206-553-035.43 Meetings and Seminars 300 <br />001-206-553-034.02 All Travel 700 <br />001-199-581-099.91 Reserve for Contingency 1,000 <br />REPORT - ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL <br />Commissioner Eggert informed the Board that the Economic <br />Development Council wished her to pass on to the Commission that <br />- .they passed a Motion expressing approval of the 17th Street <br />Promenade project in concept because of the jobs it would create <br />and the money it would bring into the community, as follows: <br />On MOTION by Ned Gartner, SECONDED <br />by Martin Wall, it was recommended <br />to the Board of County Commissioners <br />that the Economic Development Council <br />supports the 17th Street Promenade <br />concept as a cleaner form of <br />economic development because of the <br />estimated 400 new jobs; the payroll of four <br />million dollars annually with the multiplier <br />effect on the local economy; the tax <br />92 <br />
