There will be some turn lane improvements <br />required in the 1995 timeframe, and these have been identified in <br />the DRI application for the Grand Harbor project. <br />Chairman Scurlock asked if they had done an analysis on the <br />truck traffic that will be generated by the post office <br />distribution center, and Mr. Godfrey replied that they would be <br />very happy to took into the situation of semi -trucks coming and <br />going. <br />Commissioner Bowman was convinced that the traffic problems <br />in'West Palm Beach were due to the fact that no one ever looked <br />at traffic at buildout. <br />Raymond Scent, 1605 71st Court, explained that he was in <br />favor of the commercial zoning, even though he is in the real <br />estate business and would benefit more if the property were to <br />remain residential. He pointed out that this property has had <br />every opportunity to develop at residential, but hasn't due to <br />the proximity of the sewer plant, the power plant, and the new <br />post office distribution center being constructed. Mr. Scent <br />recalled that the City of Vero Beach addressed this property 3 <br />years ago when they took it to the State for a Comp Plan change <br />and rezoned it to C1 -A. <br />Andy Beindorf, 1916 39th Avenue, Vice President of the Vero <br />Beach Chamber of Commerce, stated that the Chamber's decision to <br />favor the proposed commercial rezoning is based on the many <br />economic benefits that this project wilt bring into the community <br />-- mainly jobs and money. Mr. Beindorf stated that the Chamber <br />of Commerce is asking the Board to support this rezoning request. <br />John Acor stressed that he was speaking as a resident, voter <br />and concerned citizen, not as the Mayor of Vero Beach. He felt <br />that the Board should consider only the issues of the amendment <br />to the Comp Plan and the rezoning and not the grandiose site plan <br />that may or may not be forthcoming. He urged the Board to deny <br />this rezoning request because once the zoning is changed, <br />i <br />42 <br />
