APR 2 <br />TRI -COUNTY COUNCIL OF LOCAL GOVERNMENTS <br />BOOL{ 68 PAGE 19-1 <br />The Board reviewed the following memo dated 4122/87: <br />TO: Board of County Commissioners <br />FROM: Charle Vitunac, County Attorney <br />DATE: April 22, 1987 <br />RE: AGENDA - BCC MEETING 4/28/87 <br />COUNTY ATTORNEY'S MATTERS <br />TRI -COUNTY COUNCIL OF LOCAL GOUTS. <br />The attached letter from Attorney Daniel S. McIntyre _ <br />expresses a strong desire on the part of St. Lucie County <br />for Indian River County to readdress its earlier position <br />concerning execution of the attached Interlocal Agreement <br />with St. Lucie and Martin Counties. As I had previously <br />indicated if the Board is concerned only about being <br />assessed against its will for costs of the Council, I <br />believe that the proposed document would allow the County to <br />withdraw from the Council rather than pay any assessment it <br />objected to. <br />I am placing this matter before the County Commission for an <br />indication from the Board as to how it wishes.to proceed. <br />Attorney Vitunac explained that this is the same agreement <br />that the Board rejected previously because it had provisions for <br />assessments against the County. <br />Commissioner Eggert still objected to funding the Council <br />because she felt it would give it too much status, and Chairman <br />Scurlock agreed. <br />Commissioner Bird did not feel totally comfortable with <br />funding it, but believed that the overall good of the council <br />outweighs this single negative aspect. <br />Commissioner Bowman pointed out that they have not assessed <br />anything yet. <br />Commissioner Eggert felt the whole thing could be done <br />without signing an agreement such as this, but Commissioner Bird <br />felt it would look strange if we were the only County that did <br />32 <br />
