On one hand, he felt the separate territories made <br />sense, but on the other hand, he believed competition was very <br />beneficial. <br />Director Pinto pointed out that there would be competition <br />among the commercial collectors. He emphasized that in the <br />future, we may have to require residents to have their trash <br />collected. <br />There being no others who wished to speak in this matter, <br />the Chairman closed the Public Hearing. <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Commissioner Bowman, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Wheeler, that the Board adopt Resolution <br />87-48, authorizing a residential rate increase for <br />Rural Sanitation, Inc. of $3.58 per month, effective <br />June 1, 1987. <br />Under discussion, Commissioner Bird stated that once again <br />he was putting a lot of faith in our Utilities Dept.'s assessment <br />of the company's financial status and integrity. <br />Director Pinto pointed out that Rural will have to come back <br />in 5 or 6 months to get the balance of the increase they <br />requested, and will undergo another complete financial analysis <br />at that time. <br />Commissioner Wheeler understood that at that time the County <br />has the option of going in and readjusting the rates downward, <br />and Director Pinto confirmed that the Board has that ability. <br />THE CHAIRMAN CALLED FOR THE QUESTION.
