WL <br />'1p <br />BOOK <br />6` <br />Chairman Scurlock <br />informed the Board that we have <br />received <br />$286,000 based on Public Works Director Davis' diligent efforts <br />to pursue a grant, and there was only about one million available <br />in the whole state for that grant. He felt Director Davis is to <br />be commended. <br />REPORT ON AUDIT NEGOTIATIONS <br />Chairman Scurlock reported that Attorney Vitunac will be <br />receiving the documents discussed yesterday in negotiation with <br />Coopers Lybrand, the number one selection in the short list for <br />auditors. The first year of the contract would be at $80,000 <br />with them providing 40 hours of consulting services in addition <br />to their scope of services at no cost; the second year increases <br />to $85,000, and the third year to $90,000. There will be some <br />language providing flexibility re using some of their other <br />services, and all this will come back to the Board for approval. <br />REPORT ON PARKS & RECREATION MEETING <br />Commissioner Bird advised that at the P&R meeting of July <br />9th, it was recommended that the Transportation Planning <br />Committee give consideration to the following: <br />1) Installing a bike path on Lindsey Road. <br />2) Adding a bike path to the 43rd Avenue road improvement <br />project. <br />3) Installing a caution light and a crosswalk in the vicinity of <br />the new Gifford Park entrance. <br />Further recommendations were: <br />1) That the County employ a full time Recreation Director as soon <br />as possible; this will be brought up at budget time. <br />2) That Public Works give consideration to installing speed bumps <br />at Gifford Park to slow down traffic going through the park. <br />3) That staff look into the Soccer League's request for construc- <br />tion of three soccer fields, possibly at Kiwanis-Hobart Park. <br />4) That efforts to obtain a tree spade be continued. <br />5) That installation of restroom facilities at Dale Wimbrow Park <br />be pursued in this budget year. <br />86 <br />
