Further discussion ensued as to whether the turtles might <br />not k e better protected on government owned lands and a <br />controlled situation. <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Commissioner Wheeler, SECONDED by <br />I, <br />Commissioner Bird, to support the state's proposed <br />purchase of beachfront in Indian River County. <br />Commissioner Wheeler pointed out that another thing we need <br />to think about is beach restoration. He felt the more of this <br />property the state owns, the more apt DNR is to help Sebastian <br />Inlet Taxing District and the county put a feeder beach up there <br />that is going to help our other beach project in Vero Beach and <br />in turn help our whole county. <br />THE CHAIRMAN CALLED FOR THE QUESTION. <br />It was voted on and carried 4 to 1 with <br />Commissioner Bowman voting in opposition. <br />Commissioner Bowman explained that she did not want C.A.R.L. <br />money for beach problems as she felt we have a more critical <br />problem with the sand ridge. <br />There being no further business, on Motion duly made, <br />seconded and carried, the Board adjourned at 12:30 o'clock P.M. <br />ATTEST: - <br />Clerk Chairman <br />49 <br />BOOK 69 .PAGE <br />
