WAINWRIGHT, Secretary, Es o <br />Plaintiff, <br />vs . <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY and THE <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, <br />Defendants. <br />ORDER RELEASING INMATES <br />The Jail Oversight Committee met on Friday, September 15, <br />1987 and again on Thursday, October 1, 1987 in regard to the <br />over -population of the Indian River County Jail. On September <br />25, 1987, the total population was 182 in the jail with the num- <br />ber sleeping on the floor of fifty-seven. On October 1, 1987, <br />the total population was 192 with the number sleeping on the <br />floor of 67. At the initial meeting of the committee on Septem- <br />ber 25, 1987, the committee had insufficient information as to <br />the status of the inmates and was unable or unwilling to release <br />any prisoners at that time. On September 28, 1987, the county <br />attorney was notified that the committee had not released any <br />prisoners and that the county should immediately plan to <br />transport the prisoners to the detention facilities which have <br />space available to get within the 143 -person limit as required by <br />the Consent Decree of July 28, 1987. <br />Since, at the second meeting of the committee on October 1, <br />1987, there was an increase of the number of persons incarcerated <br />and the number sleeping on the floor, it is ordered as follows: <br />s <br />60 <br />=1 <br />Rl_ <br />cn <br />Z2l <br />C) <br />The Jail Oversight Committee met on Friday, September 15, <br />1987 and again on Thursday, October 1, 1987 in regard to the <br />over -population of the Indian River County Jail.
