Director Davis commented that quite frankly, it is a bit of <br />an awkward situation at present with a Purchasing Director not on <br />board. He personally did not call the companies. Actually, we <br />have done business with both Sod Laid and Florida Sod, but - <br />Florida Sod had the low bid even furnished and installed, which <br />is mainly what we use in petition paving and throughout the <br />county. If the Board wishes to table this matter, he would be <br />glad to call and ask for clarification. <br />Administrator Balczun noted that if the objective is some <br />adjustment to the unit price, then it is necessary to reject and <br />rebid. <br />Commissioner Bird believed there is a tie on the Bahia. <br />Discussion continued as to the bids, and he asked if we have to <br />award this all to one company. <br />Public Works Director Davis pointed out that having more <br />than one supplier gets very complicated and involves a lot of <br />paperwork. <br />ON MOTION <br />by Commissioner <br />Eggert, SECONDED <br />by Com- <br />missioner <br />Bird, the Board <br />unanimously (4-0) <br />rejected <br />all bids and authorized staff to readvertise. <br />Commissioner <br />Bird commented <br />that we <br />had a <br />problem <br />in <br />the <br />past with our sod <br />supplier, and <br />he would <br />like <br />staff to <br />be <br />able to <br />prequalify these bidders to be sure they are able to supply the <br />product per our requirements. <br />Director Davis noted that it is difficult having to go out <br />to bid for some of these minor things, and he actually would like <br />to be able to price these things on a monthly basis around town <br />as he felt he might be -able to get a better price that way than <br />being locked into one company. <br />Commissioner Eggert asked if we could approve a price rather <br />than a company, and OMB Director Baird believed the Board could <br />9 BOOK 69 FADE 587 <br />
