OCT 2 ® 1987 <br />FIREARMS RANGE COMMITTEE REPORT <br />ROOK 69 PAF 762 <br />Commissioner Bird reviewed the following Summary of Actions: <br />FIREARMS RANGE COMMITTEE <br />SUMMARY OF ACTIONS <br />OCTOBER 15, 1987 <br />The Committee endorsed the concept of the interim range at the <br />old stump dump for a law enforcement practice range, with the <br />hope that the public will be able to utilize the range until a <br />permanent range can be constructed. <br />The Committee also asked that.,.a request to sent to the St. Johns <br />River Water Management<'District for approximately 200 acres for a <br />firearms range on the east side of CR -512 north of SR -60 running <br />north to the dike. <br />Jim Davis will provide Commissioner Bird with an aerial view of <br />the property, and he and Bill Stegkemper will look at the area <br />and come up with a recommendation as to the proper place to <br />construct a firearms range in the requested area. <br />TOURIST DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL REPORT <br />Commissioner Wheeler reviewed the following Summary of <br />Actions: <br />TOURIST DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL <br />SUMMARY OF ACTIONS <br />OCTOBER 14, 1987 <br />The Indian River Arts Council requested $5,000 from the Tourist_ <br />Development Fund and the Tourist Development Council recommended <br />that the $5,000 come from the surplus funds overbudget generated <br />by District 1 (City of Vero Beach) under the criterion of <br />promoting and advertising tourism; this recommendation is being <br />made not only to promote and advertise tourism, but to an <br />established non-profit organization that has been performing the <br />service in the community. <br />The Tourist Development Council recommended that the Board of <br />County Commissioners send a resolution to the State of Florida <br />asking the Department of Revenue to submit a list of the people <br />who are currently paying the tourist tax to make sure they have <br />been appropriately allocated to the districts. <br />51 <br />
