Commissioner Wheeler advised that the Arts Council wishes to <br />hire an executive director to promote the arts in Indian River <br />County, and one of the suggestions made was to work with travel <br />agencies to conduct 3-4 day tours of Vero Beach, showing what <br />this area has to offer in the way of the arts and other <br />activities, such as Dodgertown, etc. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Wheeler, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Eggert, the Board unanimously approved <br />the request by the Indian River Arts Council for <br />$5,000; funds to come from the surplus funds overbudget <br />generated by District 1 (City of Vero Beach) under the <br />criterion of promoting and advertising tourism. <br />Commissioner Wheeler noted that the -resolution asking the <br />Florida Department of Revenue to submit a list of the people who <br />are currently paying the tourist tax was adopted earlier this <br />morning under Item V on the Consent Agenda. <br />REACTIVATION OF CITY/COUNTY BIKE PATH COMMITTEE <br />Commissioner Bird advised that after the Planning staff <br />indicated it would be nice to have a committee to work with on <br />the various bike paths, he talked it over with the City and the <br />City has indicated that they also would like to see the committee <br />reactivated. The suggested makeup of the committee is one County <br />Commissioner, one representative of the County Parks & Recreation <br />Committee, one City Councilman, one representative of the City <br />Recreational Committee, a member of the School Board, and two <br />members at large to be named from biking enthusiasts, PTA, etc. <br />,,OCT r7 52 <br />800Y 69 FACE 763 <br />
