Exchange of radio equipment from vehicle to <br />vehicle without harness change is available if <br />one brand of radio equipment is used for trunking. <br />The trunking radio system will allow for expansion as well as <br />meet. -or exceed present needs. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends that the Board of County Commissioners authorize <br />the continued purchase of G.E. equipment from the GSA contract <br />in lieu of bids. Personalities aside, it is late in the five <br />year plan to change the type of equipment used in the planned <br />county wide system. If approved, plans will be put into motion <br />to cause the radios to be installed in Road & Bridge vehicles <br />over the holidays to prevent a major impact on the department <br />work schedule. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Bowman, SECONDED by Com- <br />missioner Wheeler, the Board unanimously (4-0) <br />authorized staff to continue purchase of G.E. <br />communication equipment from the GSA contract as <br />recommended above. <br />DISCUSSION OF PHASE It OF THE JAIL - ARCHITECT AND CONTRACTOR <br />Administrator Balczun reported that representatives of <br />Frizzell Architects and Schopke Construction are present today in <br />order to keep the Board informed of the problems with Phase II of <br />the Jail and why it is not yet open, <br />Dalas Disney of Frizzell noted that Mr. Schopke is involved <br />with the day to day activities, and he would prefer that Mr. <br />Schopke speak first and explain why the building is not open, <br />after which he would like to be allowed to address the Commission <br />with a list of three options. <br />Mr. Schopke wished to make the point that they did not have <br />approval to obtain all the electronics equipment until May of <br />1987 and had a completion date in June, 1987, which did not seem <br />84 <br />
