Davis, P.E. <br />Public Works Director <br />DATE: January 5, 1988 <br />SUBJECT: <br />FILE: <br />Contract for Professional <br />Engineering Services - Indian <br />River Boulevard North <br />Extension - Amendment No. 2 <br />between Boyle Engineering <br />Corporation and Indian River <br />REFERENCESIPtY <br />Charles M. Green, Boyle <br />James W. Davis dated <br />Nov. 17, 1987 and <br />Dec. 22, 1987 <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />Boyle Engineering Corp., design consultants on Indian River Boulevard Phase <br />III Extension (between the Main Canal and Barber Avenue), has notified the <br />County staff via letter dated Nov 17, 1987, that numerous design items <br />already completed on the project were not included in the original project <br />scope of work contained in the Sept. 23, 1986 agreement between Boyle <br />Engineering and the County. This list of nine items is attached to the <br />Nov. 17, 1987 letter. The cost of the additional services was computed to <br />be $13,170. In addition, the consultant has stated that other additional <br />items which have not been designed should be added to the project at a cost <br />of $4,198. <br />The County staff reviewed the Engineer's request for additional compen- <br />sation and is of the opinion that only six of seventeen items qualify for <br />additional services. The six items are included in the attached amendment <br />No. 2. The additional cost to the County is $4,318. <br />ALTERNATIVE'S AND ANALYSIS <br />Staff has reviewed Amendment No. 2 and concurs that additional services as <br />defined are warranted. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS AND FUNDING <br />Staff recommends that the Chairman be authorized to execute Amendment No. 2 <br />to the Sept. 23, 1986 Professional Services Agreement between Boyle Engi- <br />neering Corp. and Indian River County at an additional cost of $4,318. <br />Finding from Local Option Gas Tax and Zone 5 Traffic Impact Fees. <br />Commissioner Eggert inquired what exactly our policy is on <br />additional costs or additional services; are all of those being <br />brought back to us for everything that is out. <br />Public Works Director Davis noted that he could only speak <br />for Public Works items, and any time there are extra changes in <br />JAS, 12 1988 <br />9 <br />BOOK 70 Mr,E 569 <br />
