TREASURE COAST PRIVATE INDUSTRY COUNCIL ANNUAL REPORT <br />Commissioner Bird introduced Executive Director Nan Griggs <br />of the Private Industry Council. <br />Mrs. Griggs presented the 1987 Program Year Annual Report <br />and reviewed the program achievements of the Treasure Coast Job <br />Training Center: <br />Treasure Coast Job Training Center <br />Program Achievements <br />O Job Training Programs placed 32 percent more people into jobs than in the <br />previous program year. <br />O Project Uplift, a computerized remediation program for potential dropouts, <br />served 362 students in the first four months of operation. <br />O The Summer Youth Program exceeded its goals by placing 832 youth into jobs or <br />vocational exploration. <br />O The School -To -Work Transition Program was used for the first time as a tool for <br />helping handicapped students get jobs. <br />O Private training companies through performance-based contracts taught job <br />skills to the unemployed giving them a more promising future. <br />O The St. Lucie Council of Social Agencies chose the Treasure Coast Job Training <br />Center as its "Outstanding Organization of the Year." <br />O In June, 1987, the Workshop -To -Work Transition Program received national <br />recognition when the National Association of Rehabilitation Facilities featured <br />the program in a segment of its 1987 National Rehabilitation Conference in <br />Seattle, Washington. <br />24 <br />MAR 2 2 1988 <br />BOOK <br />
