JAIL PHASE II - ARCHITECT'S REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL SERVICES <br />Administrator Balczun reviewed the following: <br />TO: <br />THRU: <br />COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR <br />FROM: H. T. "SONNY" DEAN <br />OWNER'S AUTHORIZED •EP•ESENTATIVE <br />SUBJECT: INDIAN RIVER COUNTY JAIL PROJECT - PHASE II <br />ARCHITECT'S REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL SERVICES <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS DATE: MARCH 16, 1988 <br />CHARLES P. BALCZUN <br />At the regular meeting of the Board of County Commissioners on March <br />1, 1988 the subject request was presented with all available back-up <br />material. After a lengthy discussion the Board instructed this <br />writer as follows: <br />1. Request the Architect to give a description of what each <br />employee's job encompassed in relation to the additional <br />services as submitted for payment. <br />2. Ascertain conclusive dates in which request covered and if <br />additional payment would be presented beyond the date of <br />this request. <br />3. Negotiate with architect the amount of requested payment <br />and any other charges. <br />W. R. Frizzell Architects was contacted and the three areas of <br />concern were addressed with the attached letter of response. <br />To summarize the response and proposal the following information is <br />offered: <br />a. Anexplanation of Additional Service Activities is <br />attached for your perusal. <br />b. The anticipated date of Substantial Completion was <br />April 28, 1987. The actual date of Substantial <br />Completion was January 15, 1988. This is a total of <br />261 days past the contract date. Estimated <br />accumulated liquidated damages as of March 15, 1988 <br />is approximately $57,500. <br />c. I have discussed all charges for additional services <br />with the Architect to include their total request for <br />Phase I and II of this project and they -agreed to <br />settle for the $20,113.41. This is outlined in the <br />attached response from W. R. Frizzell. Architects. <br />Based on the above information Staff recommends approval to pay the <br />$20,114.41 as final payment for all additional services on Phase I <br />and II of the Indian River County Jail Project. <br />MAR 2 9 1988 <br />32 <br />BOOK 71 F'WE389 <br />
