once the equipment is prepared for an election, they could not <br />duplicate the work or replace the equipment in time to hold an <br />election. <br />Commissioner Eggert and Chairman Scurlock did not agree that <br />there were no other alternatives, and Commissioner Wheeler did <br />not believe there has ever been a history of anyone messing with <br />the voting equipment. He believed we could provide steel doors, <br />put in extra locks and install a security system, all for less <br />than we would pay another employee. <br />Dir. Davis noted that part of the problem is that we have a <br />very large number of people with keys to that gate, including <br />Fire Department people who service and fuel their trucks. He did <br />agree that the voting machine building could be secured <br />independently. <br />Chairman Scurlock commented that if there is a real problem, <br />there is an area at the water plant where the voting machines <br />could be stored and would have full time security. <br />THE CHAIRMAN CALLED FOR THE QUESTION on the Motion <br />to approve the position.
