"SONNY" DEAN <br />MANAGER OF SOLID STE MANAGEMENT <br />DEPARTMENT OF UTILITY)SERVICES <br />SUBJECT: INDIAN RIVER COUNTY <br />SANITARY LANDFILL EXPANSION - SEGMENT II <br />BACKGROUND <br />On May 4, 1988 bids were received for the subject project. All three <br />bids were turned over to our consultants, Camp, Dresser and McKee, <br />Inc. to ascertain compliance with the written specifications and a <br />recommendation for acceptance. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Based on Camp, Dresser and McKee's evaluation of the bids and <br />submittal staff recommends the Board award the contract to the low <br />bidder Sheltra and Son Construction Company, Inc., and authorize the <br />Board Chairman to execute the contract. <br />ot,R'RAcT AwT c Z � ?v $Q, Z3 I <br />A+Ba•BASE <br />#3tb <br />Administrator Balczun presented staff's recommendation that <br />the Board award the contract to the lowest bidder for $2,380,231 <br />for Segment II at the Landfill. Segment II includes construction <br />of the;new cell and attendant support facilities to include <br />berms, lining, leech collection systems, stormwater control, 23 <br />monitoring wells, and earthwork. Staff anticipates a <br />construction period of approximately 6 months, and toward the end <br />of that timeframe, we will be ready to go with all the necessary <br />documents for closure of the existing cell. <br />►SUN 71988 <br />48 <br />BOOK 72 PAGE 547 <br />A4 <br />
