participation and that it in no way sets a precedent as we cannot <br />do this with every request if funding is not available. <br />Commissioner Bird agreed that we have always encouraged <br />groups such as this to try to raise funds on their own and then <br />come to the Commission. He stated that he would like to pledge <br />at least $2,500 and ask GDC to match that contribution. <br />Director Davis clarified that $5,000 would take care of <br />materials, and the Board could authorize the labor and whatever <br />indirect costs we might have. He noted that the School Board has <br />participated in some of the press releases re the fund raisers <br />and suggested that possibly,the Commission might want to give <br />them the opportunity to voice whether they want to contribute or <br />not. Chairman Scurlock agreed they should have the opportunity <br />to join in, but he did not want to delay this based on that; he <br />would support just asking them. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Bird, SECONDED by Commis- <br />sioner Eggert, the Board unanimously agreed to pledge <br />$2,500 towards the proposed sidewalk plus the in-kind <br />labor and to ask General Development Corporation to <br />make a matching contribution and also give the School <br />Board the opportunity to contribute if they desire. <br />PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO PLATTING ORDINANCE - CONTINUED -FROM 7/26/88 <br />The Attorney's office advised that this was notreadvertised <br />as it was tabled from the July 26th meeting to a time certain. <br />Asst.
