Burns, Superintendent <br />Indian River County School District <br />1990. 25th Street <br />Vero Beach, Florida 32960 <br />Dear Dr. Bum's <br />Upon researching the minutes of County Commission meetings where <br />the Gifford Community building was discussed,1the minutes reflect <br />that the County Commission was not interested in having the <br />property deeded to them. There has been no indication that the <br />mood of the Board has changed. 4 <br />If you wish to appeal the decision of the Board, please notify me <br />and I will place the matter on an agenda. <br />Sincerely,' <br />Don C. Scurlock, Jr. <br />Chairman <br />Chairman Scurlock advised that after talking with Gifford <br />Progressive Civic League president Ralph Lundy and Victor Hart, <br />president of the local National Association for the Advancement <br />of Colored People, for over an hour and a half last week, he has <br />changed his position on this issue and will vote in favor of the <br />County accepting title to the Gifford Community Center. He <br />wanted it on the record, however, that he is still is concerned <br />about any precedent being set in terms of County involvement in <br />community centers. <br />Commissioner Bird pointed out that all the maintenance is <br />the responsibility of the Progressive Civic League, who will be <br />49 <br />mor 73 F -,v r 479 <br />
