NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS, Indian River County, Florida that the week of <br />October 2 through October 8, 1988 be designated as <br />' MENTAL ILLNESS AWARENESS WEEK <br />in Indian River County, Florida; and the Board urges all citizens <br />of Indian River County, Florida to hear this call for action to <br />join the volunteers, staff and supporters of mental health <br />throughout the County. <br />Dated this 4th day of October, 1988 <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA <br />Gary Wheeler, Vice Chairman <br />SIDEWALK FUND CONTRIBUTION - VERO BEACH HIGHLANDS <br />Julie Washburn, Chairman of the Vero Beach Highlands <br />Sidewalk Committee and concerned mother, came be -fore the Board <br />and presented snapshots of 6th Avenue between the hours of -3:00 <br />and 3:30 P.M. She stressed that the sidewalk is an urgent matter <br />and believed the pictures clearly show that there is very little <br />safety for the children. Mornings are a nightmare with buses and <br />cars and approximately 400 children walking and riding bikes at <br />the same time on a half mile strip of road. <br />Mrs. Washburn then thanked all the contributors who <br />participated in their drive for funds and listed all the various <br />businesses who donated, including General Development Corp. which <br />gave $500 in cash plus their employees' time and use of their <br />facilities. She thanked Public Works Director Davis and the <br />County Commission for their support and presented the Board with <br />a check for $3,082.30 with the hope that the sidewalk would be <br />completed shortly. <br />OCT 41988 <br />12 BOOK <br />74 FACE 409 <br />
