McCAI <br />PROJECTS ENGINEE <br />DEPARTMENT OF UT LITY SERVICES <br />DATE: SEPTEMBER 30, 1988 <br />SUBJECT: BOARD APPROVAL OF MASTER AGREEMENT FOR <br />CARTER ASSOCIATES, INC.' <br />BACKGROUND <br />Several months ago Indian River County undertook <br />to short list various engineering consultants. <br />and Associates, Inc., were short listed under <br />(Surveying other than directly related to -design <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />a selection process <br />The firm of Carter <br />Classification #1 <br />project) . <br />The Utility staff recommends that the Board of County Commissioners <br />approve the signing of the attached master agreements with Carter <br />and Associates, Inc. <br />Commissioner Wheeler noted that the next 4 items on today's <br />agenda are also for approval of master agreements, and asked why <br />we are approving all these contracts at one time instead of when <br />we actually need them. <br />Utilities Director Terry Pinto explained that with a master <br />agreement, we don't need a special contract for each and every <br />service. The master agreements do not give out work, but as we <br />need work, we will negotiate a work authorization which comes <br />back to the Board for approval as part of the contract. <br />Chairman Scurlock understood a change in the language was to <br />have been made under the SAFETY section of these contracts <br />OCT 111988 <br />65 <br />BOOK <br />P L 510 <br />
