Commissioner Bowman asked if we shouldn't get the easement <br />before we do this, and Mr. Collins advised that we have the <br />easement drafted, and they have indicated they are willing to <br />sign it. <br />THE CHAIRMAN CALLED FOR THE QUESTION. <br />It was voted on and carried unanimously. <br />SAID AGREEMENT WILL BE MADE -A PART OF THE RECORD WHEN FULLY <br />EXECUTED AND RECEIVED. <br />APPROVAL OF 88/89 EMS GRANT APPLICATION <br />The Board reviewed memo from the Director of Emergency <br />Management: <br />TO: William Collins DATE: October 10, 1988 FILE: <br />Acting County Administrator <br />SUBJECT: Approval of 1988-89 EMS County <br />Award Grant Application <br />FROM: Doug Wright, Director REFERENCES: Chapter 401, Part II, <br />Emergency Management Services Florida Statutes <br />It is requested that the information contained herein be given <br />formal consideration by the Board of County Commissioners during <br />the next regular meeting. <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />The Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services, Office of <br />Emergency Medical Services (EMS) is authorized by Chapter 401, <br />Part II, Florida Statutes, to distribute county grant funds. The <br />funds are then made available to eligible county governments to <br />improve and expand their pre -hospital emergency medical services. <br />The grant program is an innovative process which enables EMS agencies <br />and organizations to improve and expand EMS systems through their <br />Board of County Commissioners. On-going costs for EMS remain the <br />responsibility of the counties and EMS agencies and organizations. <br />The EMS emergency responders in Indian River County have met and <br />determined system needs for fiscal year 1988-89.
