TRANSPORTATION PLANNING COMMITTEE <br />Commissioner Bowman reviewed the following summary of <br />actions: <br />TRANSPORTATION PLANNING COMMITTEE <br />SUMMARY OF ACTIONS <br />October 26, 1988 MEETING <br />The Transportation Planning Committee recommended the following <br />actions during its 10/24/88 meeting: <br />1. Site distance problem at US#1/30th Street <br />At the last Transportation Planning Committee meeting, <br />the Committee discussed changes which would resolve the site <br />distance problem at US#1 and 30th Street. <br />The Committee approved the report of the Technical <br />Component which recommended a three way funding program <br />between the City of Vero Beach, Indian River County, and <br />Florida Department of Transportation for paving of 12th <br />Avenue and 31st Street. <br />2. Extension of 20th Avenue into Vero Beach Highlands <br />The Committee reaffirmed its approval to extend 20th Avenue <br />into the Vero -Beach Highlands, and recommended that the <br />County Commission readdress the issue. <br />3. Amendment 4 <br />The Committee recommends support of Amendment 4. <br />4. Mr. Miller's business on US#1 <br />The Committee discussed the parking situation and the danger <br />of vehicles coming out onto US#1. The Committee suggested <br />that Commissioner Bowman contact the owner to ask for <br />cooperation, and also recommended that a letter be sent to <br />FDOT to see what could be done to alleviate the situation, <br />possibly with a turning lane. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Wheeler, SECONDED by Com- <br />missioner Bird, the Board unanimously approved Item <br />• <br />The Board next discussed the extension of 20th Avenue into <br />Vero Beach Highlands, and Commissioner Bowman advised that since <br />the TPC meeting, they have had considerable objections raised <br />regarding the proposed extension.
