Eggert <br />County Commissioner <br />06/ <br />SUBJECT: <br />Emergency Services <br />Coordinating Committee <br />-Meeting <br />REFERENCES: <br />On Friday, October 28, 1988, the Emergency Services <br />Coordinating Committee met in the first floor conference room at <br />1:00 P.M. Among the items discussed were: ' <br />1. Central Dispatch began dispatching the North County Fire <br />District on.::Monday, October 24, 1988. South County Fire <br />District will be next. <br />2. "On Call"'Ambulance Service's Certificate of Need is <br />suspended pending its sale to Atlantic Ambulance on <br />November 8, 1988. <br />3. The Committee reviewed and commented on the report by <br />James T. Ward on the Pre -Hospital Medical Services <br />Delivery System in Indian River County. Agreed upon by <br />all was the need of a single focus of management mainly <br />through the emergency services director. The members <br />representing the hospital and hospital district made no <br />comment on the report. <br />I request the permission of the Board of County <br />Commissioners to go forward with investigation of continuing the <br />ALS system in one of three modes: <br />a. Entirely within the Hospital District <br />b. Entirely within the Fire Department <br />c. As a Public Safety Department within the County <br />using the resources of the volunteers, the <br />hospitals, and the Fire Department. Organization <br />plans and methods of funding would be brought to the <br />County Commission. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by Com- <br />missioner Wheeler, the Board unanimously granted <br />permission to go forward with investigation of <br />continuing the ALS system in one of three modes as <br />listed above. <br />96 <br />NOV 11888 <br />BOOK 75 FACE 96 <br />
