r - <br />DEG <br />1988 <br />aoa 75 WA :358 <br />4..R7147.14E P95etty aunztl olrsumiaionigne. <br />1421 5th A.venpe <br />VERO BEACH, FLORIDA 32960 <br />.December 9, 1988 <br />William Collins <br />Acting County Administrator <br />County Administration Bldg. <br />Vero Beach, FL 32960 <br />Dear Mr. O;ollins : <br />The residents of the Rockridge area are deeply concerned <br />regarding the sudden closing of 'Rockridge ?'ouleva.rd (16th <br />Street) between 3rd Avenue and Indian River Boulevard late <br />Wednesday afternoon, December_ 7th. <br />There was no 'warning of intent to dead-end this highly <br />traveled Tmblic road that has been in use for the past <br />30 or more years. <br />Our .Association board members have received numerous calls <br />regarding this abrupt action and we are at a loss in ex- <br />plaining why, where or how orders for the closing of this . <br />road were initiated. <br />Without access between 6th Avenue and Indian River Boulevard, <br />the impact -on traffic will increase on both dangerously <br />narrow 6th -Avenue and 17th Street: We are also concerned <br />that traffic along 3rd Court will increase, especially so, <br />when properties are developed south of 13th Street and our <br />Rockridge area. <br />We have requested a public hearing at the earliest possible <br />date. <br />ROCKRIDGE PROPERTY OWNERS ASSOCIATION <br />OFFICERS AND DIRECTORS <br />ulie Livesa <br />President Ethel Duffy, Secretary <br />Bill Nelson, spokesman for the Rockridge Property Owners <br />Association, expressed their concern about the closing of 16th <br />Street between 3rd Avenue and Indian River Boulevard. They tried <br />to find out why the barricades were installed. last Thursday, but <br />nobody knew anything about it except City Engineer Cliff Suthard, <br />who could not be reached.
