Tuesday, January 3, 1989 <br />The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, <br />Florida, met in Regular Session at the County Commission <br />Chambers, 1840 25th Street, Vero Beach, Florida, on Tuesday, <br />January 3, 1989, at 9:00 o'clock A.M. Present were Don C. <br />Scurlock, Jr., Chairman; Gary C. Wheeler, Vice Chairman; Richard <br />N. Bird; Margaret C. Bowman; and Carolyn K. Eggert. Also present <br />were William G. Collins, Il, Acting County Administrator; Charles <br />P. Vitunac, Attorney to the Board of County Commissioners; Joseph <br />Baird, OMB Director; and Barbara Bonnah, Deputy Clerk. <br />The Chairman called the meeting to order. <br />Russell Burns, Chaplain of Cox Gifford Funeral Home, gave <br />the invocation, and Commissioner Bird led the Pledge of <br />Allegiance to the Flag. <br />ELECTION OF CHAIRMAN AND VICE CHAIRMAN <br />Chairman Scurlock announced that today is the annual <br />organizational meeting of the Board and reviewed the procedures <br />to be followed in electing new Commission officers. He opened <br />the floor to nominations for Chairman. <br />Commissioner Eggert placed the name of Commissioner Wheeler <br />in nomination. <br />There being no further nominations, Chairman Scurlock <br />declared the nominations closed. <br />JAN 3 1989 <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Bird, the Board unanimously elected <br />Gary C.
