until we have the feeling from the City Council that they indeed <br />are willing to do this. In addition, we need to get the <br />cooperation of the First Baptist Church on the alley into the <br />parking way just north of the church since they own that property. <br />Commissioner Eggert felt we need to work together on a master plan <br />as quickly as possible, but go ahead with the things we need to co <br />to get into specific design. However, she did not feel it was <br />fair for the library to delay its progress on certain things untO <br />we see if the public approves funding for the court facilities. <br />Commissioner Eggert advised that the City requested that we <br />do a 6 -block traffic study, and it is felt that could be part of,a <br />study that is already being done in the County. We were planning <br />on bringing that to the Board today, but Administrator Chandler <br />has asked us to delay that discussion for one week or so. <br />Commissioner Scurlock asked if there is any ability for the <br />architects of these projects to have some kind of common approach <br />in their design, and Chairman Wheeler felt the the exterior design <br />would be the most important part of it. He wanted to take the <br />whole conglomeration of these two projects and turn it over to <br />Administrator Chandler and let him delegate the necessary staff to <br />sit down and compile the information, analyze it, put it in some <br />kind of form, and bring it back to the Board with a <br />recommendation. That way, the Board would be able to see the <br />whole picture rather than Looking at it in fragments. <br />Commissioner Scurlock felt that we need to find out very <br />quickly whether the City is willing to abandon the alley and the <br />street and if the First Baptist Church is willing to allow that <br />part of the alley to be abandoned. <br />Commissioner Eggert did not feel that her going forward with <br />the abandonment of the alley and the closing of 22nd Street would <br />be a problem with master planning the two projects. <br />Commissioner Scurlock felt that what Chairman Wheeler wants) <br />is for Administrator Chandler to become the chief coordinator of <br />41 <br />,JAN 1 196 <br />ROOK 75 FAC <br />641 <br />
