If the <br />Commission concurs with what has been recommended, he would like <br />authorization to proceed with that concept and nail that down and <br />bring back the specifics on the request for proposal for <br />consultants on the master plan. Today, only conceptual approval <br />is needed. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Eggert, the Board unanimously authorized <br />staff to proceed with getting a master plan of the <br />downtown area. <br />TRANSPORTATION PLANNING COMMITTEE REPORT <br />Commissioner Bowman read the following Summary of Actions on <br />of the meeting of February 8, 1989: <br />TRANSPORTATION PLANNING COMMITTEE <br />SUMMARY OF ACTIONS <br />February 8, 1989 MEETING <br />The following is a summary of the Transportation Planning <br />Committee meeting of 2/8/89: <br />1. <br />Request for Speed Reduction on SR -60 Between Kings Highway <br />and 1-95 <br />The Committee recommended that the letter from Mr. Gornall, <br />President, Village Green Homeowners Association, be <br />forwarded to FDOT asking them to look into this matter. <br />2. City of Vero Beach A1A Study <br />The City is contemplating improvements to A1A between. SR -60 <br />and the south City limits. <br />The Committee recommended that the County Commission release <br />all impact fees collected in District 2 to the City for <br />planning, design and construction of the A1A project; <br />and also recommended that a member of the FDOT staff and a <br />member of the County staff be included on the selection and <br />project team. <br />3. Removal of Traffic Signal at 87th St. and US#1, Wabasso <br />FDOT would like to remove the traffic signal at 87th Street <br />and US#1. Inasmuch as the Wabasso Post Office will be <br />relocated at the end of this month, County staff concurs <br />that the traffic volume at that intersection will not <br />warrant a signal. <br />7,4 <br />
