BOOK <br />76 PAGE 635 <br />should be called a Disaster Fund, not just a Hurricane Fund, and <br />Commissioner Bird agreed. <br />Administrator Chandler felt out of all that is proposed, <br />if we are going to continue the Sales Tax program for the capital <br />projects at the rate we are right now with the Jail, Courthouse, <br />and the Health Department, we are going to need the $1,500,000 <br />seed money to insure we can proceed at the schedule we have been <br />following. <br />Commissioner Scurlock further noted that as we come into the <br />next fiscal year and our budget grows, we must have a certain <br />percent of our budget in a reserve to give us some flexibility. <br />If the budget goes up 100, he felt sure Director Baird will be <br />saying that we need to increase our contingencies. <br />Director Baird confirmed that there are rules of thumb <br />financial people like to use in order to keep yourself financi- <br />ally secure. <br />Interested citizen, William Koolage, wished to recommend <br />that the Board follow the suggestion of setting this money aside <br />as a Disaster Fund; otherwise, it just dribbles away. <br />Commissioner Bird wished the name of the Hurricane Fund <br />changed to Disaster Fund, and the Board agreed. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by Com- <br />missioner Scurlock, the Board unanimously approved the <br />recommendations of the Financial Advisory Committee <br />as set out in memo dated April 12, 1989, with the <br />Hurricane Fund changed to Disaster Fund. <br />FUNDING APPROVAL FOR EMS STAFFING IN SEBASTIAN AREA & AMENDMENT <br />OF FELLSMERE VOL.
