She agreed that the Highlands needs another access, but let it be <br />out to 27th Avenue. <br />The Chairman informed her that we will be having another <br />meeting on June 6th to settle the matter of the 20th Avenue <br />extension. <br />Chairman Wheeler determined that no one further wished to be <br />heard and thereupon closed the public hearing. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED by Com- <br />missioner Eggert, the Board unanimously (4-0) approved <br />staff recommendation and adopted Resolution 89-53 <br />authorizing discontinuing the use of 17th Lane SW <br />AKA Lockwood Lane at 27th Avenue (SR 607). <br />RESOLUTION NO. 89— 53 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, TO DISCONTINUE <br />USE AND CLOSE LOCKWOOD LANE SW AT 27TH AVENUE. <br />WHEREAS, the County Public Works Department has <br />initiated a public improvement project for an additional entrance <br />into the Vero Beach Highlands Subdivision, which road would be <br />the extension of 17th Street SW between 20th Avenue SW and 27th <br />Avenue; and <br />WHEREAS, 17th Street SW would connect to 27th Avenue <br />(S.R. 607); and <br />WHEREAS, the proposed extension of 17th Street SW would <br />connect to 27th Avenue within approximately 60' of the existing <br />location of Lockwood Lane SW, thereby creating a substandard <br />intersection separation distance; and <br />WHEREAS, to_ avoid the above substandard intersection <br />spacing, the County shall discontinue use and close Lockwood Lane <br />SW at 27th Avenue; and <br />WHEREAS, Lockwood Lane SW is not being abandoned or <br />vacated; and <br />33 <br />
