ON MOTION by Commissioner Bowman, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Eggert, the Board unanimously authorized <br />the purchase of a 3M locator for a price of $650, as <br />recommended by staff. <br />GIFFORD AREA SEWER PROJECT - CONTRACT #2 - EFFLUENT DISPOSAL - <br />CHANGE ORDER #3 AND FINAL PAYMENT <br />The Board reviewed the following memo dated 8/14/89: <br />DATE: AUGUST 14, 1989 <br />TO: JAMES E. CHANDLER <br />COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR <br />FROM: TERRANCE G. PINT <br />DIRECTOR OF UTILI E VICES <br />SUBJECT: GIFFORD AREA SEWER PROJECT <br />IRC PROJECT #US -85 -08 -ED . <br />CONTRACT #2 - EFFLUENT DISPOSAL <br />CHANGE ORDER #3 AND FINAL PA TENT <br />PREPARED AND STAFFED BY: ERNESTINE W. WILLIAMS <br />MANAGER OF PROJECT ADMINISTRATION <br />DEPARTMENT OF UTILITY SERVICES <br />BACKGROUND <br />On October 1, 1987, Indian River County contracted for the <br />construction of approximately 4,550 linear feet of 16" diameter iron <br />pipe reclaimed water force main, approximately 1,700 linear feet of <br />8" diameter PVC reclaimed water force main, four (4) water quality <br />monitor wells, two (2) subaqueous canal crossings, valves, <br />appurtenances, complete restoration, and general site work, complete <br />r�. and ready for operation. <br />The work covered under Contract #2 has now been completed. However, <br />upon completion, the contract came in less than estimated. <br />'Therefore, we are requesting a decrease in contract price of <br />$17,756.00, as indicated in attached Change Order #3. The revised <br />%contract price becomes $452,689.00. Final payment due to contractor <br />is $23,762.95. <br />ANALYSIS <br />We have reviewed the figures and find them to be in order and the <br />work performed has been satisfactorily accepted. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />The staff of the Department of Utility Services recommends that <br />Change Order #3 for a reduction in contract price of $17,756.00 be <br />"= approved and that final payment of $23,762.95 be paid to the <br />contractor per the engineer's certification. <br />AUG 2 1989 49 BOOK r .� F,Au 1 ' <br />
