RESOLUTION NO. 89- 84 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />'COMMI SS 1ONERS -OF INDIAN RI VER COUNTY, <br />FLORIDA, SETTING THE MINIMUM TAX BILL AT <br />FIVE DOLLARS ($5.00) AND INSTRUCTING THE <br />PROPERTY APPRAISER THAT HE SHALL NOT <br />MAKE ANY EXTENS ION ON THE TAX ROLL FOR <br />ANY PARCEL FOR WHICH THE TAX WOULD BE <br />LESS THAN FIVE DOLLARS. <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to the provision in Chapter 197, <br />Section 197.212, Florida Statutes, the County Tax Collector <br />has recommended to the Board of County Commissioners that <br />it should adopt a resolution instructing the Tax Collector <br />not to mail tax notices to a taxpayer when the amount of tax <br />shown on the tax notice is less than Five Dollars, and <br />WHEREAS, Section 197.212 provides that any <br />resolution so adopted shall also instruct the Property <br />Appraiser not to make an extension on the tax ro I I for any <br />parcel for which the tax would amount to less than- Five <br />Dollars, and <br />WHEREAS, the County Tax Collector has <br />recommended the adoption of such a resolution on the grounds <br />that the current minimum tax bill amount of One Dollar <br />creates a burden 1n that the mai 11ng of such not Ice 1s not <br />cost-effective to the County, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF <br />COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA that: <br />1. The above recitals are affirmed in their entirety. <br />2. The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River <br />County hereby adopts the recommendation of the County Tax <br />Collector and sets the minimum tax bill amount at Five <br />Dollars ($5.00) and further instructs the Property Appraiser <br />that he shall not make an extension on the tax roll for any <br />parcel for which the tax would amount to less than Five <br />Dollars. All previous resolutions on the subject of minimum <br />tax bill amounts are hereby superseded. <br />SEP 5 W9 <br />59 <br />
