BOOK 7 mu ��1v <br />RESOLUTION NO. 89- 86 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, <br />FLORIDA OPPOSING THE 10:00 P.M. POLL <br />CLOSING TIME IN PROPOSED SENATE BILL <br />136. <br />WHEREAS, the House of Representatives has passed a <br />9:00 P.M. poll closing time; and <br />WHEREAS, the Senate is considering proposed Senate <br />Bill 136 which would set a 10:00 p.m. closing time; and <br />WHEREAS, 85% of the poll workers in Indian River <br />County are 60 years of age or older and 38% are 70 years of <br />age or older; and <br />WHEREAS, poll workers currently work 131 hours <br />under current law in Florida; and <br />WHEREAS, there are not enough competent poll <br />workers available to have two shifts; and <br />WHEREAS, the polls in Florida are now open from <br />7:00 a.m. to 7:00•p.m., <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF <br />COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA that <br />they are opposed to the passage of S. 136 setting a 9:00 <br />p.m. or 10:00 p.m. poll closing time. <br />The foregoing resolution was offered by <br />Commissioner Eggert and seconded by Commissioner <br />Scurlock , and, being put to a vote, the vote was as <br />follows: <br />Chairman Gary C.
