DEC 1 t68 <br />ROOK <br />site with the low bid than it would be to transport the material <br />from the local area. <br />Commissioner Eggert asked if we have a set figure per mile, <br />and Director Dean stated that it would be roughly 204 per mile. <br />Commissioner Scurlock noted that 204 per mile is what the <br />state statutes allow us, and the IRS allows 244 per mile this <br />year, but when you take specific equipment such as this, you <br />cannot operate it for that figure. <br />Director Dean stated that he will ask the Public Works <br />Director how he arrived at that cost figure, and Commissioner <br />Eggert agreed that she would like to know. <br />Commissioner Bird made the further point that he doubted the <br />County has that big a fleet of dump trucks that we can make all <br />these trips. <br />Commissioner Eggert concurred, and noted she just had a <br />question about the mileage figure. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by Com- <br />missioner Bird, the Board unanimously awarded Bid <br />#90-12 for Embankment Materials to the low bidder <br />meeting specifications, Dennis L. Smith, and author- <br />ized the award of an Open End Contract per staff <br />recommendation and per the following Bid Tabulation: <br />6 <br />
