Mascola,SPO Manager <br />Division of Purchasing <br />SUET: IRC BID#90-12/EMBANKMENT MATERIAL <br />BAICKGROUND: <br />The Subject Bid for Embankment Material. was properly advertised <br />and Ten (10) Invitations to bid were sent out. On Nov. 29, 1989 <br />bids were received. Three (3) vendors submitted proposals for the <br />c aarodity. <br />• ANALYSIS: <br />Staff has reviewed the submittal to ascertain adherence to <br />• specifications. Dennis L. Smith was the low responsible <br />bidr7Pr that met all requirements. Blackhawk was the lowest bid, <br />but due to all prices being picked up, 57 miles round trip to <br />Blackhawk •wuuid.increase time & gas and increase the price <br />way beyond D. L. Smith's quote. <br />Monies for this project will cane from Other Road Material & Supplies <br />Account. <br />RE Ci (DATION: <br />Staff recatmendsthe Award of a Open End Contract and authorize <br />the Purchasing Manager to renew the contract for one additional <br />cr <br />. �, ry performance no cost increase, vendor <br />�,.�s: -�y�ar sph3ect• to••satisfaeto <br />acceptance, and determination the renewal is in the best interest <br />4111, of the County. The initial contract period shall begin with the <br />• date of award and shall terminate one (1) year frau that -date.--- - <br />Commissioner Eggert had a question as to how we are <br />determining the cost of the mileage. <br />Director Dean advised that staff contacted the Road & Bridge <br />Department, and they supplied the figures which showed that it <br />would be more costly for them to transport the material from the <br />DEC 19 `t9B9 <br />5 <br />BOOK. <br />
