By the same token, under Worker's <br />Compensation, when the injured employee is treated for that <br />on-the-job accident, we discourage them from going to their <br />personal physician because the situation often can become very <br />cloudy between an on-going medical condition versus the accident. <br />Commissioner Bird agreed that when something is not life <br />threatening, you can take the time to go to Doctors Clinic, but <br />in an emergency situation, he would hope they go to the hospital.. <br />Mrs. Jordan assured him that is how it would be handled. <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED <br />by Commissioner Bird, to approve the Risk Management <br />section of the County's Administrative Policy Manual <br />with the provision that we adjust the language to <br />allow a little more flexibility in terms of going the <br />other way (i.e., relaxing what is referred to as <br />"minimum" standards. <br />Administrator Chandler felt the language can be modified to <br />reflect that these can be adjusted down as well as up, and <br />Commissioner Scurlock further suggested that when we do make any <br />such adjustment, possibly there should be a variance form which <br />would spell out any variance from standard procedure and the <br />reason for it. <br />Commissioner Bird agreed there should be such a form and <br />wished to add his commendation regarding the preparation of this <br />manual, which he felt is long overdue. <br />THE CHAIRMAN CALLED FOR THE QUESTION with the <br />addition of a variance form. <br />It was voted on and carried unanimously. <br />COPY OF SAID RISK MANAGEMENT POLICY MANUAL SECTION ON*FILE IN THE <br />OFFICE OF CLERK TO THE BOARD. <br />33 BOOK Ec:1 <br />.JAN 19U <br />
