Vero Beach, FL 32961-1974 <br />February 1, 1990 <br />Indian River County Board <br />of County Commissioners <br />1840 25th Street <br />Vero Beach, Florida 32960 <br />Dear Ms. Chairman: <br />As you know, the 1990 Firefighters Indian River County Fair will <br />soon be under way and we look forward to our most successful <br />year yet. <br />This will be our sixth year at the fairgrounds and even though <br />our fair grows more popular each year we are again finding it <br />difficult to get local merchants and displays involved in the <br />fair due to lack of permanent facilities. Even though we are <br />able to accomodate some of these patrons by supplying tempo— <br />rary structures such as tents we are finding that our costs <br />are continually rising. <br />The firefighters and many community and business leaders have <br />expressed concern to me regarding what Indian River County's <br />future plans are for fairgrounds improvements. <br />The Board of Directors of the Vero Beach Firefighters'Associa— <br />tion, Inc. has authorized me to present to you the idea of <br />earmarking this years $9,000.00 -rent charge be placed into a <br />special account for fairgrounds improvements. We hope that in <br />future years these monies could possibly be matched by the <br />county and other municipalities and thru donations in order to <br />make the fairgrounds a more attractive place for future events. <br />The firefighters wholeheartedly support this idea and will help <br />anyway possible. <br />We look forward to discussing this with you further. <br />Si cerely, <br />Joseph H.
