AUTHORIZATION FOR UTILITY SERVICES TO PURCHASE THREE RADIOS <br />The Board reviewed the following memo dated 2/22/90: <br />DATE: FEBRUARY 22, 1990 <br />TO: JAMES E. CHANDLER <br />COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR <br />FROM: TERRANCE G. PINTO <br />DIRECTOR OF UTIL SERVICES <br />SUBJECT: RADIO PURCHASING <br />PREPARED AND STAFFED BY: JOHN FREDERICK LAN 4j - <br />ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST <br />DEPARTMENT OF UTILITY SERVICES <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Department of Utility Services budgeted $8,500.00. for mobile <br />communications equipment. Three radios and one radio/telephone were <br />budgeted. The Department has purchased two radios and a <br />radio/telephone to date, for a total of $3,324.00. The Department <br />proposes to purchase three radio/telephones at a cost of $4,260.00. <br />These radios are being purchased for new vehicles that would <br />otherwise be without mobile communications. This will provide <br />emergency telephone call in and out for the Rockridge service <br />vehicle, the lift station inspection vehicle and the distribution <br />chief's vehicle. <br />ANALYSIS <br />The purchase of three radio/telephones as a substitution for the <br />remaining budgeted radio will leave $916.00 remaining in the <br />budgeted account. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />The Department of Utility Services recommends that the Board of <br />County Commissioners authorize the purchase of three <br />radio/telephones, as the budgeted funds are available. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Wheeler, the Board unanimously <br />authorized the purchase of three radio/telephones <br />by Utility Services, as recommended by staff. <br />53 <br />MAR 61990 Boor <br />
