SR 5/US 1 September I 2014 <br />Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study <br />From South of 53rd Street (M.P. 9.762) to North of CR 510 (M.P. 14.457) <br />Financial Project ID No. 431724-1-22-01 I Federal Aid Project No. 4855-083-P 1 ETDM No. 13967 <br />Project Overview <br />The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is conducting a <br />PD&E Study to consider improvements to SR 5/US 1 from south of <br />53rd Street to north of CR 510 in Indian River County. This project <br />is consistent with the Indian River County Metropolitan Planning <br />Organization's (MPO) 2035 Long Range Transportation Plan. <br />This PD&E Study is evaluating many alternatives, including <br />roadway capacity improvements, bicycle and pedestrian <br />accommodations and transit needs. The different alternatives <br />being evaluated include, but are not limited to: <br />b Widening SR 5/US 1 from four lanes to six lanes <br />• Transportation Systems Management (TSM) (i.e. <br />intersections, signals, sidewalks, bike lane improvements) <br />A No -Build or "No Project" Alternative <br />A Public Kick-off Meeting was held on March 26, 2014 at the <br />Polish -American Social Club. This meeting provided an <br />opportunity for the general public, as well as agency <br />representatives, to become acquainted with the project. <br />Approximately 57 members of the public attended this meeting, <br />as well as three agency members from the Indian River County <br />MPO and St. Johns River Water Management District. The <br />information presented at the Public Kick-off Meeting is available <br />on the project website at www.us1study.com. <br />Project Location Map <br />Adjacent CR 510 Project <br />Indian River County currently has a project (see Inset A to the <br />right) that is in the design phase. This project plans to widen <br />CR 510, from two to four lanes, from 55th Avenue to Shore Lane. <br />Intersection modifications will also be made at SR 5/US 1 and <br />CR 510 to raise the elevation of the roadway approximately five <br />feet.
