DeBlois, AICP <br />Chief, Environmental Planning <br />DATE: November 5, 2014 <br />RE: Approval of Contract Agreement with Sunnnerlin's Marine Construction, LLC <br />for Dock Renovations at the Jones's Pier Conservation Area <br />It is requested that the Board of County Commissioners formally consider the following information at <br />the Board's regular meeting of November 18, 2014. <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />At its meeting on September 16, 2014, the Board of County Commissioners authorized county staff to <br />negotiate a contract agreement with Summerlin's Marine Construction, LLC to repair docks at the Jones's <br />Pier Conservation Area, as described in a Request For Proposals (RFP) (see motion summary minutes, <br />Attachment 1 to this report). <br />At that time, the Board authorized staff negotiations with Summerlin's Marine Construction with a caveat <br />that the work include renovation, not removal, of a dilapidated single-family dock on the northern <br />shoreline of the property. The Board also directed county staff to contact the Florida Inland Navigation <br />District (FIND) to determine the opportunity to request additional grant funds toward the project, given a <br />revised cost estimate as reported to the Board at the September 16 meeting. <br />Staff has since contacted FIND and has negotiated a contract agreement with Summerlin's Marine <br />Construction, LLC (including renovation of the northern dock), and is reporting back to the Board with <br />the contract agreement for the Board's approval consideration. <br />ANALYSIS <br />At the September 16 Board meeting, staff reported that a FIND grant that had been awarded for the <br />project covered $15,000 of an estimated revised overall project cost of $66,099, as reflected in the <br />following table: <br />269 <br />
