2196 LAWS OF FLORIDA <br /> pairing and (or) maintaining the streets and sidewalks of said <br /> municipality; for the purpose of opening, constructing and (or) <br /> maintaining public parks and (or) promenades; for the purpose of <br /> establishing and maintaining a fire department in said municipality; <br /> for the purpose of erecting public buildings for the use of said <br /> municipality; for the purpose of constructing seawalls along the <br /> water fronts of said City; for the purpose of constructing, repair- <br /> ing and (or) maintaining municipal docks; for the purpose of <br /> filling in any lot or submerged land in said City; for the purpose <br /> of constructing, repairing and (or) maintaining bridges, bulklicads <br /> and causeways; for the purpose of purchasing, constructing and . <br /> (or) maintaining a municipal golf course; for the purpose of pur- <br /> chasing, constructing and (or) maintaining a municipal hospital; <br /> for the purpose of purchasing, constructing and (or) maintaining <br /> a municipal air port; or for any other municipal purpose, the <br /> Mayor and City Council are hereby authorized to issue bonds of <br /> said municipality, and under the seal of said corporation, to an <br /> amount of not exceeding twenty-five per cent of the assessed valua- <br /> tion of all the property, both real and personal, within said City, as <br /> shown by the current assessment roll, said bonds to be signed by <br /> the Mayor, countersigned by the President of the Council, and at- <br /> `"" tested by the Clerk, with interest coupons attached, which shall <br /> be signed in like manner, except that such interest coupons may be <br /> signed by the lithographed or facsimile signatures of the Mayor, <br /> President of the City Council and City Clerk respectively; provided, <br /> however, that before said bonds shall be issued the issuance of said <br /> bonds shall be approved by an affirmative vote of a majority of the <br /> electors voting for each purpose separately at an election to be held <br /> for such purpose of purposes, which election shall be regulated by <br /> ordinance as to the manner of conducting and certifying the same, <br /> after the same has been advertised for not less than thirty days in a <br /> newspaper published in said City of Vero Beach, or in sonic news- <br /> paper published in Indian River County, Florida, and at which <br /> election only qualified electors of said City who own real estate in <br /> said City, and who have paid the taxes thereon last due shall be <br /> allowed to vote. <br /> Section 48. When the bonds are issued under the terms of this <br /> Act the said bonds shall be under the seal of the City of Vero Beach <br /> and shall be signed by the Mayor, countersigned by the President <br /> of the City Council and attested by the Clerk, with interest cou- <br /> pons attached, which shall be signed in like manner, except that <br /> such interest coupons may be signed by the lithographed facsimile <br /> 113 <br />
