2013/2014 plan update process, opportunities were provided for local citizens, property owners, <br />Gifford residents, and other interested parties to participate in the update and development of the <br />neighborhood plan. During that update/plan development process, the following steps were taken: <br />• Revised the plan's data section with the most recent available information <br />• Revised the plan's analysis section with input from Gifford residents and participating <br />departments and agencies <br />• Identified current issues and concerns through input provided at community meetings <br />• Identified current opportunities, constraints, and priorities through community <br />meetings <br />• Developed new objectives and action plan tasks to address identified concerns, issues, <br />opportunities, and priorities <br />• Presented the updated plan for final community input on the neighborhood plan. <br />The result is a 108 page plan that contains an introduction and description of the planning process, <br />data (existing conditions), analysis, action plan, implementation, and funding sections, and <br />appendices containing reference information including a history of Gifford. The next step in the <br />process is Board review and approval of the neighborhood plan. Following approval, the plan will <br />be implemented on an on-going basis as specified in the plan's action plan and implementation <br />sections. <br />• Consistency with the Comprehensive Plan <br />The purpose of the Gifford Neighborhood Plan 2014 is to address problems that are of special <br />concern to residents of Gifford and to pursue opportunities desired by the community. While the <br />plan focuses on one community within the county, the strategies and actions of the plan are <br />consistent with the objectives and policies of the County's overall Comprehensive Plan. More <br />specifically, the neighborhood plan is consistent with the Comprehensive Plan's Land Use, <br />Transportation, Economic Development, Housing, and Recreation and Open Space objectives and <br />policies. <br />• Action Plan <br />The action plan section is "the heart" of the neighborhood plan. As structured, the action plan <br />contains 15 objectives that relate to major issues and topics identified during community meetings. <br />Following is the list of the neighborhood plan objectives in the order presented in the plan: <br />1. Communication/Coordination <br />2. Housing Rehabilitation/Property Maintenance <br />3. Demolition/Repair of Dilapidated and Unsafe Structures <br />4. Housing Ownership <br />5. Economic Development/Employment/Technical Training <br />6. Illegal Uses, Non -conformities, and Land Use Compatibility <br />7. Sidewalk Improvements <br />8. Street Maintenance <br />9. 45th Street/ MLK Blvd "Main Street" Beautification and Improvements <br />10. Traffic/Safety Improvements <br />11. Drainage Improvements <br />12.
