2014 Solid Waste Management Plan
• Possible closure of one or more CCCs: The Winter Beach center receives the
smallest quantity of materials and is located within three miles of the
Gifford center. It should be closed whether universal collection is adopted
or not. The Gifford center receives the second smallest quantity of materials
and is in an area with a substantial density of residents that subscribe for
curbside collection. The Roseland center in the northern part of the County
(Sebastian) is undersized and likely receives substantial out of County
waste. If removed from service substantial capital cost savings for relocation
and reconstruction can be saved.
7. Year 2013 Waste Diversion and Processing
Table ES -2 summarizes waste diversion and recycling for 2013. Waste diverted
from disposal includes materials managed by SWDD, as well as those collected
and processed outside of the SWDD, including commercial recyclables as certified
by FDEP.
