APR 2 41890 BOOK l9 F,1GE <br />After further discussion, Commissioner Scurlock noted that <br />what is proposed sounds like something he would be interested in, <br />but he does not have enough information. He wants to see some <br />kind of budget, their contractual relationship with Data General, <br />and some kind of firm agreement with the Consortium before he <br />votes on this. <br />Ricky Dees, the Sheriff's Finance Officer, advised that all <br />they are asking for at this point is for the fund to be set up <br />the same way the Law Enforcement Trust Fund is set up for the <br />revenues to be deposited in, and then they will come back and ask <br />for the Board's authority to disburse the funds. There is no <br />need for seed money, and there is no money coming out of the <br />Department's budget or the County's budget. <br />Commissioner Wheeler believed that if the Sheriff's <br />Department has an obligation, there is some cost associated with <br />that, whether it is giving people a tour, or travel costs, or <br />additional supplies, etc. He further noted that the letter from <br />the Sheriff refers to "the agreement outlined above.." and he <br />would like to know about that agreement. <br />Mr. Voyles advised that they have an independent software <br />vendor agreement with them Data General. <br />Chairman Eggert expressed her concern about the relationship <br />with the Consortium, and Commissioner Wheeler continued to <br />express his concern that we may be paying $3.00 to make $1.00. <br />Discussion continued at length, and Chairman Eggert <br />suggested that we table this matter for two weeks or whatever is <br />needed until the Sheriff can come back with actual costs, <br />agreements, etc. <br />Mr. Dees felt they would want 3 weeks or so, and Attorney <br />Vitunac advised that it is not a public hearing so this can be <br />scheduled whenever the Sheriff is ready. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED by Com- <br />missioner Wheeler, the Board unanimously agreed to <br />34 <br />
