It is with <br />great pleasure that we request the participation <br />of Indian River <br />County on the Policy Committee for the Indian River <br />Lagoon National <br />Estuary Program. We request that you or another commissioner <br />selected by the county commission represent Indian <br />River County in <br />providing guidance for the program. <br />Section 320 of the Water Quality Act of 1987 describes the purposes <br />of the National Estuary Program and authorizes funding for this <br />national program. Governor Bob Martinez has chosen the Florida <br />Department of Environmental Regulation (DER) as the state agency <br />responsible for implementing the program. 'DER Secretary Dale <br />Twachtmann and Greer C. Tidwell, Regional Administrator, U.S. <br />Environmental Protection Agency, Region IV, will serve as co- <br />chairmen for .the Policy Committee.
