Chairman, Indian River County Board of County Commissioners <br />Chairman, Martin County Board of County Commissioners <br />Chairman, St. Lucie County Board of County Commissioners <br />This Policy Committee will establish general policies and goals for <br />the Indian River Lagoon National Estuary Program and execute <br />ultimate authority over its administration. The primary duties of <br />the Policy Committee will be to: 1) review and approve all <br />substantial expenditures of the program; 2) establish the structure <br />of and appoint the members to the various Program committees, <br />subcommittees and staff; 3) approve the Program's workplans and <br />evaluate its progress; and 4) provide broad-based policy direction <br />for the Indian River Lagoon National Estuary Program. A chart <br />showing the committees and their relationships is attached. <br />The Policy Committee will meet after we receive acknowledgement of <br />the appointment of those requested to serve on the Committee. A <br />public meeting will be 'held shortly thereafter to introduce the <br />committee members and to describe the program. You will be <br />contacted regarding the proposed dates for these Committee and <br />public meetings. Tidwell <br />Regional Administrator, <br />U.S. Environmental Protection <br />Agency, Region IV <br />ADalewachtmann <br />Secretary, <br />Florida Department of <br />Environmental Regulation <br />Chairman E99ert suggested that Commissioner Bowman be <br />appointed to this committee instead of herself, considering <br />Commissioner Bowman's extensive knowledge of the lagoon. <br />Commissioner Wheeler wanted to see Roland DeBlols, Chief of <br />Environmental Planning, involved in this committee also, but <br />Chairman Eggert explained that the DER is only asking for <br />commissioner appointments at this time. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Wheeler, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Bird, the Board unanimously (4-0, <br />Commissioner Scurlock being absent) appointed <br />Commissioner Bowman to the Policy Committee for <br />the Indian River Lagoon National Estuary Program. <br />BOOK <br />2 5 U FAE <br />
