JUL 31990 <br />BOOK 80 <br />Background <br />Each quarter, the Risk Management Division receives award <br />recommendations from the Safety Committee. The nominees, as <br />individuals or as work groups, have demonstrated their commitment <br />to on-the-job safety and health through their outstanding <br />performance. <br />Analysis <br />Staff received the Third Quarter Safety Award nominations and <br />selected Traffic Engineering Division's Sign and Pavement Marking <br />Section. The attached memoranda from Michael Dudeck, Traffic <br />Engineer, and John Butler, Jr., Traffic Operations Foreman, detail <br />their meritorious efforts. In addition, the Section has had no <br />vehicle accidents or on-the-job injuries in over one year: <br />Recommendation <br />Staff recommends the Third Quarter Safety Award be presented to <br />Public Works Department's Traffic Engineering Sign and Pavement <br />Marking Section. <br />James E. Chandler �..� Date <br />County Administrator <br />Chairman Eggert presented the Third Quarter Safety Award to <br />Michael Dudeck, Traffic Engineer, who accepted the award on <br />behalf of the following employees of the Traffic Engineering Sign <br />and Pavement Marking Section: <br />John D. Butler, Jr., Traffic Operations Foreman <br />Brian Battis, Marking Technician <br />William M. Webb, Marking Technician <br />Robert F. McAree, Traffic Inspector <br />Bernard Stecher, Maintenance Worker <br />James J. Croft, Maintenance Worker <br />Kenneth E. Jordan, Maintenance Worker <br />Jeftrey S. Susdorf, Maintenance Worker <br />Raymond C. Lehman, Maintenance Worker <br />Chairman Eggert commended these gentlemen for their <br />efficient and safe handling of all emergency and non -emergency <br />road closings and detours, and pointed out that these men work <br />with potential hazardous machines which reach temperatures of <br />approximately 5000 and work in roadways and complex intersections <br />with heavy traffic volumes, and have had no lost time accidents <br />for in excess of one year, which is truly amazing. She expressed <br />the Board's appreciation of their work. <br />2 <br />
