TRANSFER OF CONTROL OF ST. FRANCIS MANOR <br />The Board reviewed the following memo dated 6/26/90: <br />TO: Bhrd of County Commissioners�PUtulgh;cFROM: CP. �ountY A <br />ttorne <br />Y <br />DATE: June 26, 1990 <br />SUBJECT: TRANSFER OF CONTROL OF ST. FRANCIS MANOR <br />REFERENCE: LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT OF ST. FRANCIS MANOR <br />St. Francis Manor a non-profit, non -denominational housing <br />facility for elderly persons was constructed on land leased <br />to St. Francis Manor of Vero Beach, Florida, Inc. by Indian <br />River County. The lease was.executed on August 8, 1973 for <br />a term of 99 years. <br />St. Francis Manor's current Board of Directors would like to <br />turn over ail assets to the Diocese of West Palm Beach so <br />that the -Diocese and Catholic Charities can provide <br />continuity of service and administration. See attached <br />document. <br />All terms of the.lease will remain unchanged. <br />Recommendation: If the Board of County Commissioners agrees <br />to the proposed transfer, staff recommendation would be to <br />approve the transfer of control and authorize the Chairman <br />to execute on behalf of the County any documents necessary <br />to reflect County approval. <br />CPV/sb <br />Chairman Eggert noted that the facility will remain <br />non-profit, non -denominational. <br />Attorney Vitunac advised that everything must remain the <br />same or it would be a violation of the lease. The lease will <br />stay the same, there is just a different manager. <br />ON MOTION by Commission Scurlock, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Wheeler, the Board unanimously <br />approved the transfer of control of the St. Francis <br />Manor, and authorized the Chairman to execute any <br />documents necessary to reflect County approval, as <br />recommended by staff. <br />pj 0 ngrr F, <br />"' <br />
