TRIMMING <br />* NEW TIME FRAME FOR SEA TURTLE <br />PROTECTION 9 P.M. <br />* NEW SECTION AQUACULTURE/WATER RELATED <br />— WATER DEPENDENT USES <br />Planner DeBlois advised that Planner Mark Crosley drafted <br />this chapter, and among other things, it calls for a permit to do <br />dune maintenance trimming. <br />Commissioner Bird referred to Page 7, Paragraph (d) which <br />mentions a 1125 year or less intensity storm event," and asked if <br />that wording is correct. <br />Planner DeBlois confirmed that it is - it means a more <br />frequent storm which is generally of less intensity. <br />Commissioner Bird wished it confirmed that we are not saying <br />oceanfront property can't put in a bulkhead as a final <br />protection, and Planner Crosley confirmed that we are not, but <br />noted that DNR criteria is more restrictive than ours. <br />Director Keating pointed out that the "Catch 22" we are in <br />is that we are still under the Hutchinson Island Management Plan <br />and need to be consistent with their restrictions about coastal <br />armoring. He further noted that the DNR will not even consider a <br />permit until we issue a letter saying it will not contravene <br />local requirements. <br />There were no comments from the public on Chapter 932. <br />48 <br />M, <br />
