Davis, P.E. <br />Public Works Director. <br />SUBJECT: CR 512 Widening Improvements <br />Status <br />------------------------------------------------------ ------ <br />Recent inquiries have been made by North County residents on the <br />status of the CR 512 Widening Project through the City of <br />Sebastian. Staff has been requested to provide an update on the <br />status of the project and to document past decisions on the <br />proposed Twin Pairs Alignment through the eastern portion of the <br />project. <br />HISTORY OF PROJECT <br />1985 County purchased the 100' wide Gulf and Western <br />Railroad right-of-way through a four mile segment <br />of the City of Sebastian for approximately <br />$200,000. <br />1985 County Traffic Engineering Staff conducted an <br />Intersection Study of CR 512/U.S.1 intersection <br />that recommended a Twin Pairs alignment for <br />widening CR 512 along the easterly 3000' section <br />of the project, similar to the F.D.O.T. SR -60 Twin <br />Pairs Project scheduled for construction in 1990. <br />August - October 1985 <br />The North Indian River County Businessmen's <br />Association, Inc. and Orange Heights Property <br />Owners Association objected to the Twin Pairs <br />Alignment and requested an Economic Study of the <br />alternatives. <br />
