ON MOTION by Commissioner Bird, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Scurlock, the Board unanimously authorized <br />staff to advertise a public hearing on the proposed <br />grease trap/pollutants ordinance for October 16, 1990 <br />with the change in Section VII as suggested by <br />Commissioner Bowman, and the inclusion of a'definition <br />of grease. <br />WELL CLOSURE AGREEMENT WITH ST. JOHNS RIVER WATER MANAGEMENT <br />DISTRICT <br />The Board reviewed the following memo dated 8/28/90: <br />DATE: AUGUST 28, 1990 <br />TO: JAMES E. CHANDLER <br />COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR ' <br />FROM: 'TERRANCE G. PINTO <br />DIRECTOR OF UTILITS VICES <br />PREPARED JOHN F. LANG <br />AND STAFFED ENVIRONMENTAL PECIALIST <br />BY: DEPARTMENT OF UTILITY SERVICES <br />SUBJECT: WELL CLOSURE AGREEMENT BETWEEN <br />ST. JOHN'S RIVER WATER MANAGEMENT DISTRICT AND <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY <br />BACKGROYJND <br />The Board of County Commissioners on October 3, 1989, approved' an <br />agreement with St. John's River Water Management District to share <br />equally in the costs of well closures in Indian River County. The <br />Department of Utility Services acquires wells in its acquisition of <br />private utility systems. <br />ANALYSIS <br />The Department of Utility Services has budgeted $15;000.00 again <br />this year for well closures and requests the ability to avail itself <br />of the contracted closing -services and inspection as provided by St. <br />John's .River Water Management District. These services have <br />satisfactorily closed old utility wells at Bent Pine, the -Ixora <br />Distribution Yard, the King's Highway. Water Tower site, * the <br />Mid -Florida Water Tower site, the County Grove, Park Place, and <br />Vista Royale. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />The Department of Utility Services recommends that the Board of <br />County Commissioners execute the renewal of the interlocal agreement <br />between St. John's River Water Management District and Indian River <br />County and authorize the spending of funds from Account No. <br />../471-000-166-002.00 for well closures. <br />67 <br />PUOr 8 i PAGE :r 11 <br />a <br />
